Mr. Boyer, I have been working with a 1000 yard light gun that seems to exhibit vertical. All the usual load development has been done. I have tried the usual methods to reduce the vertical, fluffed the bags, tried different bags, different holds, bullets, powders, ect. I have 3 barrels for this rifle and they all show the same issue. It seems to me that the gun has very narrow load windows. If you are on top of the load it will group, if you deviate .1 gran or .001 in seating it will get vertical bad. What can cause a gun to have a narrower load window than another? I am wondering if its the stock. Its a very stiff 4″ wide wood laminate stock. Thank you, Alex

Let me start by saying that I have not shot 1000 yards so I can not offer you any advice based on my experience. If you were running into these issues at 100 yard and 200 yard shooting I would first look at ignition. I can’t see why a stiffer stock would cause vertical across several barrels.
Check your firing pin fall carefully and make sure your trigger is working consistently. You could, or get a good gunsmith to carefully look at your bolt assembly and see if you can see any problem areas. Take a loupe and inspect your primer indentations carefully to check for any inconsistencies.
I am sorry that I can’t offer more advice but as mentioned, I am very focused on short-range BR shooting.
